A circuit topology that maintains an equal impedance between both conductors and ground. A balanced transmission must have three basic elements: 1) Balanced Transmitter, 2) Balanced Transmission Line, 3) Balanced Receiver. (e.g., John switched to a balanced transmission system because his old coaxial cables picked up noise.)
